RESIDENTIAL & HOSPITALITY

PARTNERING WITH ARCHITECTS, BUILDERS, AND CLIENTS BRINGING  SPACES TO LIFE

Serving primarily Sonoma, Marin, and Napa counties

We believe good design is design for real life.

So, we partner with the architects, builders, landscape designers, real estate agents, trades, and our clients  for ground up construction, remodels, and restorations, bringing projects to  life.

Our work is notable for its warm, welcoming, calm, balanced, grounded and timeless designs.

In addition, we often serve as owners’ representatives - advocates - providing busy clients with project management services through the design/build process.

JULIE BUCKNER | CREATIVE DIRECTOR & OWNER

Julie brings unique experience and a full suite of skills in innovation, marketing, and management to her clients, company and community.  Ever an entrepreneur, interior design is Julie’s third career: creating change, balance, and beauty has always been at the essence of her life.

She spent over twenty years working in policy communications and political consulting at the national, state, and local levels, with a specialty in California. Later, she founded a yoga studio and school. There she developed a bespoke teacher training program and supported a thriving, connected community. For decades, her finger has been on the pulse of the country’s preoccupation with its political system and, perhaps paradoxically, Americans’ fascination with yoga practice and philosophy.

Julie’s love of antiques, furniture, art, rugs, textile, tableware, fine linen, fashion (especially shoes!), and decor was passed down through her family’s matriarchal lineage. She scavenges shops, boutiques, flea markets, and online vendors finding treasures - curating, inventing, and reinventing.

Creatively free from design convention, she works intuitively, authentically. Always learning and growing, she’s inspired by culture, architecture, visual arts, music, literature, history, landscape, food, and wellness. She encourages clients in exploration of their design, in alignment with their lifestyles and aspirations.

Julie’s developed a special niche in the design business: she often plays the role of an owner's representative – coaching busy, stressed, and overwhelmed clients through their design/build projects. She’s trusted as a partner and collaborator with homeowners, builders, trades, landscape designers, makers, real estate agents, and trades – bringing spaces to life.

She's a lifelong student of yoga, a yoga teacher, hiker, gardner, cook, and mama of two amazing young men. Julie grew up in Los Angeles, and has lived in New York, Washington DC, Berkeley, and Sonoma County. She’s recently remodeled, and now settled into a classic 1905 California Bungalow in historic downtown Petaluma.

Julie understands people and knows how to meet them where they are. She’s real.
